Notes of Storm-Control on Cisco CAT switch

Just couple of notes regarding using storm-control on Cisco switch:

1) One very important remark everybody seems to miss, is that storm-control only works on INBOUND packets.

2) Watch out with stormcontrol on trunk ports! The broadcast traffic by default will be forwarded into all the VLANs available on the switch, NOT only to the “allowed-vlan”.

3) If the storm-control is configured on Trunk port and the storm-control “drop filter” action is configured, broadcast triggering will block all VLANs on trunk.
