Configure Sflow(Netflow) on HP Procurve 28xx and 53xx Switch

NOTE: There is no GUI/Web option to configure/enable sFlow on HP Switch Platform.

1. Telnet to switch with write permission.

2. Verify the firmware version on Switch, it has to be I.08.07 and above by running “show system-information” command.

3. Convert the Netflow Collector IP to Hex value.(http://www.kloth.net/services/iplocate.php)

4. Run command “walkmib 1.3.6.1.4.1.14706” on switch

sFlowRcvrMaximumDatagramSize.1 = 1400

sFlowRcvrAddressType.1 = 1

sFlowRcvrAddress.1 = ac 19 7b a8

sFlowRcvrPort.1 = 2055

sFlowRcvrDatagramVersion.1 = 5

5. We will need to update the variable values in bold in previous step to match the network setup

6. Set the “sFlowRcvrAddress.1”to the converted IP address value

setmib sFlowRcvrAddress.1 –o AC197BA8

7. Set the “sFlowRcvrPort.1” to the UDP port configured on collector

setmib sFlowRcvrPort.1 –i 2055

8. Set both Owner and Timeout values on the same command-line

setmib sFlowRcvrOwner.1 -D demo sFlowRcvrTimeout.1 -i 100000000

In above command, the owner is set to “demo” and timeout value is set to “100000000” milliseconds

9. Set the sampling rate on each monitoring interface (example below is for interface 23 and sampling rate 1 out of every 50)

setmib sFlowFsPacketSamplingRate.11.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1.23.1 -i 50

10. The following OID specifies a ‘1’, or ‘enable’, flow monitoring on the interface (example below is for interface 23)

setmib sFlowFsReceiver.11.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1.23.1 -i 1
